THE PROPERTY

Occupying over 160 hectares of rich alluvial soil nestled beside the permanent Faithful’s Creek, Ealing Park is in the heart of Victoria’s thoroughbred capital – Euroa.
Being north of the Great Dividing Range the north-east Victorian climate provides mares with an early spring break, mild sunny winters and reliable rainfall. The property is extremely well drained even in the wettest winters, whereby the horses are dry under foot.  Just off the Hume Highway, Ealing Park is easily accessed by both mare owners, transport companies and veterinary support.

THE OWNERS

Tim and Lisa Johnson have been at working at Ealing Park since 1987 where they joined Tim’s parents Geoff and Mary in developing the farm into a commercial operation. In June 2000 they took over the ownership of Ealing Park and are ‘hands on’ in all facets of the business.

HISTORY

Ealing Park was purchased in October 1983 by Tim’s father Geoffrey for the Johnson’s family mares.  Tim’s grandfather Walter was a passionate racing man and the family’s small breeding operation produced the champion Vain who stayed in Johnson family hands throughout his racing and breeding career.

The farm started standing stallions in 1990 with the arrival of the Group 1 winning 2 year old Full And By. Since then, stallions have included Kingston Rule the 1990 Melbourne Cup record breaker, Rustic Amber, sire of outstanding sprinters Brawny Spirit and Sequalo, Good Journey, Special Bond and more recently Estambul.

The 2011 breeding season has seen Ealing Park dedicate itself to being a full-time broodmare walk-out farm.
